Thomas H. Redmond, Sr. June 3, 1928 - January 28, 2010

Thomas Heflin Redmond, Sr., passed away on January 28, 2010, at the age of 81. Tom, true to his Irish heritage and charismatic personality ("never met a person he didn't already know"), was quite the entrepreneur and an extraordinary character. An avid sportsman and talented athlete, he hunted, played tennis, basketball, and graduated from Anderson College on a football scholarship. He coached various football teams, including a state championship high school team in Atlanta, Ga, was a Golden Gloves state champion (1947), owner of a professional football team, president of a national life insurance company, founder of a boy's camp, a pilot...a risk taker, a dreamer.

This blog is an opportunity for family and friends to share thoughts, memories and stories of a very unique man, Tom Redmond, Sr. Thanks for your comments!

  1. I wouldn't have my love for horses if it wasn't for Pappy. He always made me get back on after i fell off. Love you Pappy.

  2. Only knew him a short time while Tom Jr was at Butler, but I could tell he was a very special guy.

My sorrow goes out to the family.
